Tower Square: A New Civic Space for Hartford

As part of the iQuilt plan, an existing corporate plaza is transformed into a true public square, and a front door for a distinguished art museum

Envisaged as a loose grid of park-to-river pedestrian routes, the iQuilt master plan aims to weave together Hartford’s key cultural sites and institutions. The major organizing thread is a nearly continuous chain of landscaped parks, plazas, streets, bridges, and footpaths which form a “green seam”. The plan proposes the development of new public spaces and updates to existing ones that would complete the green seam and includes an identity, branding program and wayfinding strategy.
